Your Guide to Using the Toolbar and Tools in Live Lessons

The toolbar at the bottom of your screen makes it easy to control your Live Lesson. You can do things like mute/unmute your mic, turn your camera on/off, share your screen, chat, enable Music Mode, raise your hand, add participants, switch views, update your name, and even end the session. Not all features are the same for teachers and students, but we’ll cover the basics so everyone can get started.

 


 

Microphone and Camera Settings

  • To mute/unmute your microphone:

    1. Click the microphone icon. When muted, a line appears through the icon. Click it again to unmute.

  • To adjust your microphone or speakers:

    1. Click the up arrow next to the microphone icon.

    2. Choose your microphone or speakers from the list.

    3. You’ll see an audio meter showing if your mic is picking up sound.

  • To turn your camera on/off:

    1. Click the camera icon. A line through the icon means your video is off.

    2. To turn it back on, click the icon again.

    3. Want to use an external camera? Connect it to your device and choose it by clicking the up arrow next to the camera icon.

 


 

How to Share Your Screen

  1. Click the Screen Share icon in the toolbar.

  2. In the sharing window, choose:

    • A specific Chrome tab

    • A particular window

    • Your entire screen

  3. Select what you want to share, and click Share.

  4. Sharing audio? Make sure to toggle the audio switch at the bottom (this only works with Chrome tabs).

  5. To stop sharing, click Stop Sharing at the top of your screen or the Screen Share icon again.

 


 

Chat Menu

  • To chat:

    1. Click the Chat icon in the toolbar.

    2. Type your message and hit send. Notifications will pop up when someone sends a message.

  • To share files or emojis:

    1. Use the Paper Clip icon to upload files for everyone.

    2. Click the Smiley Face icon to send emojis.

  • To close the chat window:

    1. Click the hamburger menu (three lines) in the chat window or select the Chat icon again.

 


 

Live Speech Translation

  • Go to the Live Speech tab at the top of the chat window.

  • Make sure your mic is unmuted (no line through the mic icon).

  • Speak in your language, and the system will automatically translate it for others. You can also:

    • Manually select your language.

    • Choose a male or female voice (if available for your language).

  • Translations will show up in the chat window.

 


 

Polls

  1. Open the Polls tab at the top of the chat window.

  2. Click Create a Poll.

  3. Enter your question and answer options.

  4. Click Send to share it with everyone.

  5. View results as participants vote. You can also change your vote.

  6. To close the poll, click Close or use the hamburger menu near the poll window.

 


 

Music Mode

Want crystal-clear sound for music? Enable Music Mode!

  • To enable Music Mode:

    1. Click the musical notes icon in the toolbar.

    2. A popup will explain that noise suppression and echo cancellation will be disabled.

    3. Click Yes, Start Music Mode. Everyone will be temporarily removed and then brought back to the session.

    4. The Music Mode icon will be highlighted when active.

  • To disable Music Mode:

    1. Click the musical notes icon again.

    2. Select Yes, Stop Music Mode to return to normal audio settings.

Tip: Everyone should wear headphones to avoid feedback!

 


 

Raise Your Hand or Send Emojis

  • To raise your hand:

    1. Click the hand icon in the toolbar. Your thumbnail will get a yellow border, and the teacher will see a popup.

    2. To lower your hand, click the hand icon again.

  • To send emojis:

    1. Click the up arrow next to the hand icon.

    2. Choose an emoji to send. Emojis may play sounds when sent.

 


 

Switching Views (Tile View and Spotlight View)

  • Tile View: Displays everyone equally.

  • Spotlight View: Focuses on one person with others on the side.

To switch between views, click the four squares icon in the toolbar. In Spotlight View, you can click a participant’s thumbnail to make them the main focus.

 


 

Profile Icon and Ending the Session

  • To edit your name: Click the profile icon in the toolbar.

  • To end the session:

    • Teachers: Click the red phone icon, then confirm to close the room for everyone.

    • Participants: Click the same icon to leave the session.

 


 

More Features (Ellipses/Three Dots Icon)

Click the three dots icon for extra options like:

  • Viewing shortcuts

  • Changing settings

  • Adjusting video performance

  • Enabling/disabling Noise Suppression

  • Changing your background

 


 

Hamburger Menu (Three Lines in Upper Left)

From here, you can:

  • Use music tools like:

    • Chromatic Tuner (shows if notes are flat or sharp)

    • Metronome (keeps the beat)

    • Guitar Chord/Scale Generators

    • Interactive Piano

    • Music Whiteboard

 


 

Music Tools in Detail

  • Chromatic Tuner:

    • Works with your microphone to show if a note is flat or sharp.

  • Metronome:

    • Adjust tempo with "+" and "-" buttons or type in a specific BPM.

    • Start/stop with the buttons provided.

  • Guitar Chord/Scale Generators:

    • Select the key and type of chord/scale, then click Generate to share it with the group.

  • Interactive Piano:

    • Play using your mouse or device. Keys will light up as you play.

  • Music Whiteboard:

    • Upload PDFs or audio, annotate, and use blank staff paper to create music.

    • Save your work with the Snapshot feature.

 


 

Sign Out

To log out, click Sign Out in the hamburger menu and return to the homepage.
