How to Record and Submit a Video Attempt

This guide will walk you through recording a video attempt to submit to your teacher or director. For details on recording an audio attempt, check out this article.

Getting Started:

  • Navigate to your assignment via the To Do button on the Dashboard or Assignments in the main menu.
  • Use the toolbar on the left of the notation to practice, listen, and record your attempt (learn more about the toolbar here).
  • Choose your Recording Options under the Tracks button (more info here).

Tip: If you’re using Demo Audio or a Backing Track, wear headphones to ensure the program records only your performance.

Recording Your Video:

  1. Get your instrument ready and click the Video Record button on the toolbar.
  2. Preview your video and adjust your position or camera angle if needed.
  3. When ready, click Record. A two-measure count-in will play.
  4. Perform your assignment.

Reviewing Your Recording:

  • After recording, you’ll see:
    • Performance Score (overall)
    • Details for Pitch, Rhythm, Length Played, and General Feedback
  • Close this screen or recall it anytime by clicking the Stars at the top of the exercise.

Understanding Your Feedback:

Colored Line Dips:

  • Up/Down: Indicates speeding up or slowing down.
  • Color Changes: Reflect pitch accuracy:
    • Green: Accurate
    • Yellow: Slightly off
    • Red: Significantly off

Hover your mouse or tap on these areas for more details.

Hint: To view feedback without the video pane, select View as Pages from the toolbar.

Listening to Your Recording:

  • Click Play to listen.
  • Toggle between the Demo Audio and your recording:
    • Click the notation for Demo Audio.
    • Click the feedback line for Your Recording.

Submitting Your Recording:

When satisfied with your results:

  1. Click the Stars to bring up the overview.
  2. Click Submit to send your attempt to your teacher or director.

Retrying Your Recording:

• To try again, click Retry.

Note: This will erase the current attempt, and it cannot be recovered after recording a new one.
